Repair A Rusted Fender On A Truck Box

A truck box, also called a truck tool box, is an addition to a truck that holds tools, and it can be attached to the truck in a variety of ways. In some cases, the truck box goes directly behind the cab. Other truck boxes do better on the truck's bed. If the fender becomes too rusty, it doesn't function or may break down. Repairing a rusted fender is important for keeping it in good condition.

Instructions

1. Scrape off the surface rust on the fender with a wire brush. Home improvement centers and hardware stores sell wire brushes in a variety of sizes.

2. Put on work gloves before pouring a rust remover into a steel wool pad. Apply the rust remover to the fender.

3. Leave the rust remover on for about 10 minutes. This is usually long enough for the acid in the rust remover to dissolve the rust.

4. Wipe off the rust remover with rags.

5. Paint on an automotive primer with a paint brush. Apply a second coat. Allow the primer to dry before driving the truck.
