Get The Government To Help Me Get My Teeth Fixed

Get your teeth fixed by taking advantage of federally funded goverment programs.

When you don't have money or the insurance to get your teeth fixed, there are federally funded government programs you can benefit from. By using these government programs, you can get emergency dental services for your teeth, such as those necessary to relieve pain, eliminate bleeding and cure infections. The programs can also be used for preventive and therapeutic dentistry services such as cleanings and prostheses.

Instructions

1. Review the Federal Poverty Level chart (see link in Resources) to ensure that your total household income is within the federal poverty guidelines. These guidelines fluctuate based on the number of individuals living in your home. The guidelines are updated on a yearly basis.

If your income exceeds the Federal Poverty Level, you may qualify for the Children's Health Insurance Program if you have children under the age of 18 living in your home. If you are age 65 or older or disabled, you may also qualify for Medicare coverage. To determine whether or not you qualify for Medicare, use the Medicare Eligibility Tool (see link in Resources).

2. Visit your local Department of Human Resources or Department of Human Services (exact agency name will vary by location) to obtain a Medicaid or CHIP application. In some locations, you can also obtain an application online through the agency's website.

If you are applying for Medicare, visit your local Social Security Administration to obtain an application.

3. Complete the application by entering information such as your name, date of birth, Social Security Number, income information and a list of assets and resources. You must also include the same information for each individual living in your home.

4. Submit the completed application to the agency representative. In some cases a one-on-one interview will also be required to further assess qualifications.

5. Wait to receive an approval letter indicating that you are approved for Medicaid, CHIP or Medicare benefits. This can take days or weeks, depending upon the agency.

6. Visit a dentist office that accepts Medicaid, Medicare or CHIP insurance as a method of payment. To locate a dentist who accepts these programs, use the "Physician Compare" tool that is located on the Medicare website.
