Custom-colored decks create attractive outdoor living spaces.
Trex Transcend is a line of decking and railing materials for exterior home use. Trex decking boards are made from a composite core of 95-percent recycled plastic and wood, with an outer shell of nine undisclosed elements that provide mold, stain and scratch resistance. Trex Transcend comes in five wood-shaded tones, five solid colors, and five bronze-hammered-finish colors. There may be a time when you decide to custom-color Trex Transcend, which can be painted or stained over the existing color. Does this Spark an idea?
Instructions
1. Allow 12 to 16 weeks for the installed Trex product to fade before applying paint or stain.
2. Clean the Trex boards with hot water and soap. Rinse well with water. Allow time for the deck to thoroughly dry.
3. Apply primer with a roller or brush first if you're radically changing the color of the Trex Transcend boards with paint. Allow to dry completely; check for maximum drying times on the primer can (they'll vary according to the primer used).
4. Apply paint or stains specifically recommended for wood to the Trex material with a roller or paint brush.
5. Apply additional coats as needed to obtain the desired new color. Check the recommendations on the back of the can for time to wait between coats (time will vary depending on the product used).
