Repair A Rust Hole In An Auto Fender

Rust in an auto fender not only looks ugly, but it spreads and causes underlying damage. Rust acts like a cancer to the sheet metal on cars, spreading under the paint and eating away at the metal. Learn use a few materials to completely get rid of rust on your fender and prevent further damage.


Instructions


1. Sand the rusted hole and edges with 200-grit sandpaper to remove the loose rust. This also smooths the area slightly to remove jagged edges left by the rust.


2. Spray the rust fix product directly onto the rust. Hold the can 6 inches away from the surface and spray the rust thoroughly. Wait one hour after spraying the final coat before handling the area.


3. Sand over the dried area with the 200-grit sandpaper to smooth the area. Spray a moderate coat of primer and allow it to dry for 30 minutes. Cover the primer with two coats of paint, allowing 15 minutes for each coat to dry. Finish with two coats of clear coat paint. Wait three hours before handling the area.
