Repair a DVD Player Door
One of the most common problems to occur with a DVD player is a damaged door, such as having the DVD door jam shut with your movie still inside. This is not too difficult a problem to fix. In fact, the issue can usually be solved with nothing more than a safety pin or paper clip.
Instructions
1. Turn off the DVD player and unplug it from the wall. Whenever you do a repair on an electronic item, always be as safe as possible and unplug the device to avoid electrocution.
2. Tip your DVD player so that you have access to the underside. Directly under the door of the DVD player, you should see the device's manual eject button. It is usually located inside a round-shaped hole in the casing.
3. Push a safety pin into the manual eject hole. As you gently push the safety pin in the hole, the door should open slightly.
4. Pull open the door and pull the tray out all the way. Remove any DVDs from the device.
5. Examine the DVD. Check the disc to make sure it is not warped or bent. This is usually the cause of most problems with the door on a DVD player. Make sure labels aren't peeling or getting stuck inside the DVD player.
6. Plug the DVD player back in and turn it on. Close the door to make sure it works properly. If the door is still jammed, you need to perform some routine maintenance on the DVD player.
7. Unplug the player again and remove the protective case from the device using a screwdriver.
8. Examine the door and the tray and make sure that it hasn't come off the track. If it has, gently press and push the tray until it snaps back into place.
9. Put the protective casing back on the DVD player.
