Reside In A Manufactured Home

Manufactured homes are a popular, low-cost housing option around the country. Many manufactured home builders make homes that look like traditional homes and that can even sit on a traditional foundation. The concessions you must make to reside in a manufactured home will vary depending on the amount of upgrades the manufactured home has been outfitted with prior to your occupancy. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

1. Inspect the skirting around the manufactured home if it is not set on a foundation. The skirting keeps wind, cold and heat out from underneath the house, which will help with your electric and gas bills.

2. Arrange rugs and furniture so you do not cover floor vents. A manufactured home with upgraded overhead vents allows more freedom with furniture arrangements.

3. Inspect the flooring of your manufactured home, especially in an older home. The plywood sub-flooring can warp and rot over time.

4. Monitor your electricity usage regularly. The lack of major insulation, especially underneath the home, can lead to high electricity bills during extreme heat or cold.

5. Make arrangements for a place to stay during hurricanes or tornadoes. Manufactured homes cannot always stand up the the winds common with these storms. Mobile home parks also seem to attract tornadoes.
