Historic Home Improvement Grants

Historical homes may qualify for home improvement grants.

There are grants available to pay for the costs of preserving important historical and cultural sites and objects in the United States. Grants can be used to preserve landmarks, parks, historical buildings, sites and land. Applicants for preservation grants must satisfy the requirements set by the funding program in order to qualify. Recipients may have to match a percentage of the grant amount by securing outside funding.

Save America's Treasures Grant Program

This grant program provides funds for the conservation and preservation of national historic landmarks, structures and sites (including historic districts, buildings and objects) as well as cultural artifacts and collections. It is sponsored by the National Park Service (NPS), working in partnership with National Endowment for the Arts; the National Endowment for the Humanities; the Institute of Museum and Library Services; and the President's Committee on the Arts and the Humanities.

Grants are open to federal, state and local government agencies and nonprofit organizations. Recipients are required to match grant funds dollar-for-dollar with money from outside sources. The maximum amount for a grant under this program is $700,000.
