Replace Wood Mobile Home Skirting

Replace Wood Mobile Home Skirting

Replacing mobile home skirting is a fairly easy task. When replacing skirting, there is already a ground rail and a top rail installed. These rails are specific to the height of the mobile home and skirting is purchased based on their existing measurements, so there is no need to replace them. Having them will also save you a great deal of time and work. All that is left for you to do is slide your new skirting on and install a front rail, an aesthetic item very similiar to molding inside a house. New skirting is a great way to update the look and style of a mobile home. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

1. Remove any old skirting from the mobile home by pulling it out from the ground channel rail that is staked in the ground and from the top rail that secures the skirting to the trailor. Leave the top and bottom rails secured to the trailor; you will be able to use them when installing the new skirting. There is a front rail that is usually screwed on top of the panel to give the skirting a finished look. This front rail can be discarded, since new skirting comes with its own finishing rail.

2. Slide a skirting panel onto the ground channel and bend the panel so that it snaps into the top rail. Keep adding pannels until the skirting surrounds the entire mobile home. Bend the metal skirting around the corners and snap it into place on the rails. This will help to prevent any animals or water from being able to get underneath the home.

3. Attach the front rail to the skirting using screws or bolts, depending on the manufacter's instructions. This will give your new skirting a completed look.
