Manufactured housing is a popular form of cheaper housing that can be transported to a site and assembled in a day or less. However, not just anyone can show up and oversee the process of installing, transporting and altering manufactured housing; you need to be a contractor who is licensed in this area. Fortunately there are training programs available for interested parties to go through before taking the manufactured homes licensing examination, called a C-47.
Instructions
1. Find a training program that is acceptable in your state. Manufactured Housing offers a training course that is acceptable in a number of states, including Arizona, Colorado, Delaware, New York and others. If your state isn't listed there, How Do I Get My Contractors License has additional resources to help you find an acceptable training program. The fees to sign up for these training courses range from roughly $195 to $250 depending on your state.
2. Complete the training course. The course will cover the necessary facts you need to know to work with manufactured housing in a variety of forms, and it will also provide you with an understanding of the applicable laws for your state that you will need to know as a contractor. Once you have all of the course materials, regardless of whether you're taking a physical or virtual class, you must complete the lessons and then get ready to take the licensing exam.
3. Take the exam either physically at a test site or over the Internet if it's offered that way in your state. The C-47 exam is what you need to take in order to get your license to work with manufactured housing installation. Once you pass the exam and you receive your license, you are now fully qualified to install, transport and repair manufactured housing.
