Historical homes are part of our local culture and heritage.
The preservation of historical homes and sites adds to a sense of place in our communities. The National Register of Historic Places classifies historic homes by age, integrity and historical significance criteria. In many towns and cities, historical homes and sites co-exist with modern architecture, thanks in part, to federal, state and local efforts to preserve National Historic Landmark properties. Grant funding programs provide governments, nonprofit and for-profit organizations, and individuals with the opportunity to restore and revitalize historic properties to their original splendor.
