The 80th year of blowing out the candles
Turning 80 years old is an excellent reason to have a celebration of life. There is no better way to celebrate the life of an elderly person than by throwing a birthday party. Celebrating the birthday of an individual so advanced in age requires more than your average birthday party planning. Throwing a party for an 80 year old requires a great deal of planning to make sure that the day's details are properly executed and that the guest of honor has another special occasion to add to her memories. Does this Spark an idea?
Instructions
1. Set a party budget. Many of the plans you make will be determined by how much they cost to carry out. It would be wise to set two budgets. Set an ideal budget and a maximum budget. Staying under your maximum budget will ensure that you don't get carried away with your party planning.
2. Research whether or not the guest of honor has any plans for the day you are planning to hold the birthday celebration. Figuring out if the guest of honor has prior obligations may require you to talk to friends and family members or to do some snooping.
3. Consider the guest of honor's favorite things and build a theme around them. Older individuals are more likely to have a colorful past packed with vivid memories. Pictures and mementos will help everyone at the party to share in that person's joy.
4. Pick a venue. An 80-year-old person has had a lot of time to establish many friendships. You will need to choose a venue that will accommodate the guest of honor's friends and well-wishers.
5. Send invitations to family, friends, former coworkers and anyone else who is beloved to the guest of honor. If the party is a surprise, make sure to tell the invitees not to mention the party to the guest of honor.
6. Hire a caterer if the venue doesn't provide food. Sample food and drinks before the party. Keep in mind that many of your guests may be older. Choose foods that are digestive friendly for older people.
7. Schedule appropriate entertainment based upon the guest of honor's lifestyle. If the guest of honor is rather conservative, the only entertainment you may need is music and fun photographs.
