Save money and extend the life of your Onkyo receiver by repairing it yourself. Onkyo has been a high-end audio product manufacturer since 1946 and is a consistent innovator in the consumer audio segment. The Onkyo receivers are consistently recognized for audio quality, performance and customization that allow consumers more control over their home entertainment systems. But problems can arise over time with steady usage including over heating. Most of these problems can be repaired without the need of a technician.
Instructions
1. Unplug the receiver from the wall outlet and let it sit for five seconds before plugging it back in if it will not power on. Power back on the unit and if it still does not power on immediately, unplug the receiver and all inputs and connections including the speakers. Let the receiver sit for one hour as it may have overheated, which activated the protection circuit.
2. Reconnect the power plug and set the volume at maximum. Turn the volume to the lowest volume; disconnect the speakers and components if the receiver comes back on. Take the receiver to a repair shop if it does not power on especially if under warranty as the power supply may need to be replaced.
3. Reset your network settings to fix faulty connection issues. Enter the "Setup" menu and use the onscreen guide to adjust the network settings. Scroll to the "Hardware Setup" option, select "Network" and enter your IP address then press "Return" and save the settings. Test connection for audio streaming and other wireless features.
4. Adjust the speaker levels to get the right sound balance in your listening area. Place the microphone in a central listening location to use the Audyssey MultiEQ Room Correction to calibrate the audio in the room. Connect the microphone to the setup mic jack on the receiver interface. Select the necessary settings for your speakers and subwoofer. Choose the correct tone for your needs when the receiver tests each speaker.
5. Choose the correct tone for your needs when the receiver tests each speaker. Move the setup microphone to the next position and select the tones that best fit that area. Some Onkyo receivers can do up to six listening areas. Save your selected options and disconnect the microphone when the setup is complete.
