Repair common problems with your Magnavox TV
There's no reason to call in an expensive service technician if the Magnavox TV repair you need is basic troubleshooting. In fact, the manufacturer offers Magnavox troubleshooting tips on its website so you can make basic repairs on your own. Whether you have problems with your remote or problems with the quality of your picture, you can save money and take care of it yourself. In just about an hour, you can have all of the Magnavox TV problems fixed without spending any money.
Picture Problems
Press the "Menu" button on your Magnavox TV remote control. You know you have loose connections if the "Main Menu" doesn't display. Check all of your wires on the back of your television and make sure everything is connected to fix the problem. If the "Main Menu" does display, continue on. Scroll down to the "Picture" menu. Adjust the "Contrast" and the "Brightness" until your picture clarity is the level you expect it to be. Make the adjustments using the "Left" and "Right" arrows on your remote control. Go back to the "Main Menu" and click on "Closed Caption." Put it in "Text" mode so the word box doesn't block the image displayed on the Magnavox TV screen.
Remote Control Problems
Press one or two of the buttons in your front panel display, also known as the buttons on the front of your Magnavox TV set. If those buttons work, but the buttons on your remote control do not, you know it's a problem with your remote control. If none of the buttons work, it's a problem with your TV set. Add new batteries to the battery compartment in your remote control. Stand or sit within 20 feet of your TV. Trying to use your remote control at distances greater than 20 feet will not work. Wipe the sensor lens on the front of your remote control and on the front of your Magnavox TV with a lint-free cloth to clean both areas, which should help improve your signal.
