Repair A Dvd With Toothpaste

Use regular toothpaste to polish scratches off of a DVD surface.

You may have heard a number of home remedies for repairing scratched DVDs, including one about toothpaste. The truth is you actually can use toothpaste to buff out some of the smaller scratches on your favorite DVD movie or video game. Although it's not guaranteed to succeed, may take several attempts and should never be done on a functioning DVD, there's a good chance you can bring your DVD disc back to life in just a few short steps.

Instructions

1. Wipe the disc from the center outward in gentle, straight lines using a soft, non-abrasive cloth.

2. Apply a moderate amount of regular toothpaste to a cloth and buff in a small circular motion around the scratches on the disc, applying enough pressure to wear away at the scratches.

3. Rinse the disc thoroughly to remove all of the toothpaste.

4. Dry the disc completely with a soft, non-abrasive cloth or a hair dryer on the lowest setting.

5. Play the disc to see if it works. If not, repeat this process as many times as necessary.
