The shower floor or shower pan in a mobile home is typically made from acrylic or fiberglass materials. In a mobile home, the floor may be attached to the shower surround, or the shower surround may sit on top of the floor basin. Whatever material the shower is made from or how it is attached to the surround, repairing the floor is often easier and less expensive than removing and replacing the shower floor completely. Instructions
1. Turn off the water off to the house and damp-wipe the shower floor basin completely to remove chemicals and residue from the basin. Wipe the floor dry with a soft, lint-free cloth to repair the shower basin properly.
2. Apply pieces of fiberglass repair tape over the cracks or holes in the shower floor basin. The tape will act as a sealant to cover the holes and cracks temporarily.
3. Mix the resin, tint and hardener from the acrylic and fiberglass shower or tub repair kit. Mix the tinting to match the color of your shower floor. Smooth the mixture onto the repair spots with the spatula included in the kit.
4. Allow the mixture to dry and harden onto the shower floor for a couple of hours. Sand the hardened compound with sandpaper and use a damp cloth to wipe away any sand and dust.
5. Apply fresh silicone sealant around the edges of the drain piece to repair leaks around the shower drain. Smooth the sealant into the seams with a grout floater tool and allow the sealant to dry for three to four hours before turning the water back on and using the shower.
