If you ignore the plaster damage, then the cracks can continue to spread and get larger and more severe. To avoid a much more complicated and expensive project in the future, repair the broken plaster on the side of your house as soon as possible. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

1. Pull any loose plaster from the house. This will make the repairs look smoother.

2. Mix joint compound with a paint stirrer to remove the clumps. Apply it to the damaged area using a four-inch flexible drywall taping knife.

3. Cover the area with fiberglass tape. Smooth over the joint compound and tape with the knife to remove some of the compound and embed the tape.

4. Wait for the compound to harden, and apply a second coat with a six-inch flexible drywall taping knife. This will cover the tape. Taper the ends of this coat with a 10-inch flexible drywall taping knife.

5. Add a small amount of water to the second coat of compound once it hardens. Smooth it out using a ceramic tile rubber grout float. The rubber float can smooth down any high areas and leave a smooth finish.
