Grants can fund the purchase of new boilers.
Several programs sponsor grants for purchasing and installing new residential and commercial boilers. Grants cover the costs associated with the construction and renovation of these structures, including administrative and labor costs. Service connection fees are also paid for with grant funds. These grants are not repaid by the recipients.
Individual Water and Waste Grants
Boilers and other water and plumbing fixtures are purchased with grants sponsored by the Department of Agriculture. The Individual Water and Waste Grant Program provide grants for low income homeowners living in Texas, Arizona, New Mexico and California to modernize their plumbing and water systems. Grants finance the replacement and installation of showers, tubs, kitchen and bathroom sinks, toilets, water heaters, outdoor spigots and other related fixtures. Grant funds can also pay for installing entire bathrooms.

Weatherization Assistance Program
The Department of Energy funds the Weatherization Assistance Program, which funds home renovation projects to make them energy efficient. These services are provided free of charge to low income households. Projects covered by the grants include replacing appliances with those that are energy efficient, replacing windows, replacing electrical, water and heating systems, and insulating walls, attics and ceilings. Total project costs for each house average about $6,500.

Emergency Community Water Assistance Grants
The Emergency Community Water Assistance Grant Program is sponsored by the U.S. Department of Agriculture. Grants finance the installation of new water systems, replacement and improvement of existing water systems, construction of wells, reservoirs, treatment plants and storage tanks. Funds also cover connection fees and equipment purchases. Eligible applicants include public companies such as water companies, state, local and tribal government agencies and nonprofit organizations.
