Repair A Rusted Truck Cab Top

Most of your truck, including the cab, is made of metal, which makes it prone to rusting. Rusting can be a serious problem for vehicles. If the rust on the top of the cab is not repaired, it spreads and causes rust-through. Proper maintenance of all parts of the truck is important for the vehicle to work efficiently. Removing rust is not hard to do if done early.

Instructions

1. Scrub away the rust from the top surface of the cab with a scrubbing pad or a wire brush.

2. Put a liberal amount of rust remover onto a steel wool wood before applying it to the rust. Rust removers use acid to dissolve rust.

3. Leave the rust remover on the truck for about 10 minutes, depending on the product. Read the label before using the rust remover.

4. Clean off the rust remover with rags or damp paper towels.

5. Paint a primer onto the top of the truck cab. Use a paint brush.

6. Apply touch-up paint to the top of the cab with a paint brush. Let the paint dry.
