Repair Glass Windows Yourself

glass window

A damaged window can cause heat or air-conditioning leaks in a home, which may only cause more problems than the broken window itself. Repairing a broken or cracked glass window is a simple repair that you can do without the help or cost of hiring a professional. It is always best to fix the damage as soon as it is noticed before it gets worse. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

1. Clean the entire window with a simple solution. Combine water, a few drops of denatured alcohol and a few drops of mild detergent in a bucket. Mix the solution with your hands.

2. Soak a soft cloth in the soapy water and give the window a good wash down. Dry it completely with another soft cloth and put your safety goggles on.

3. Use a razor blade to remove loose pieces of glass from the cracked and broken areas. Place the corner of the blade into the crack and gently flick out any loose shards.

4. Fill the syringe with resin, and push the syringe end upward until the resin begins to drip out of the tip. Tap it two or three times to release air bubbles if they are visible.

5. Put the tip of the syringe in the crack, push own on the end of the syringe, and watch the crack fill with resin. Overfill it so you know the damage has been completely filled.

6. Allow the resin to cure for several hours and then use the edge of the razor blade to scrape off the hardened excess.
