Recycle Fluorescent Bulbs In Cincinnati

Fluorescent bulbs contain mercury, so recycle them to avoid hurting the environment.

The State Of Ohio Environmental Protection Agency recommends that all fluorescent bulbs and lamps be recycled. Although there is no law requiring households to recycle the bulbs, each bulb contains a small amount of mercury. When placed in the regular landfill, they may be crushed and the mercury can seep into the ground. In Cincinnati, there are a few companies that can help you recycle your used fluorescent lamps and bulbs. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

1. Navigate to the State Of Ohio Environmental Protection Agency's Computer, Fluorescent Lamp and Ballast Recycler List.

2. Scroll through the list to navigate to Ohio. Locate a recycler in Ohio who recycles ML, or mercury-containing lamps.

3. Contact the recycling center that is most convenient to your home. Make arrangements for dropping off your bulbs.

4. Wrap the bulbs in a towel or blanket during transportation, so they don't break. Bring the bulb to the recycling facility during the time specified by the recycler.
