Repair Sears Craftsman Kohler Riding Lawn Mowers

Repair Sears Craftsman Kohler Riding Lawn Mowers

Sears Craftsman Kohler riding lawn mowers are reliable and dependable. The Craftsman brand is synonymous with quality work. Even though Craftsman Kohler mowers are reliable, they experience normal wear and tear and can sometimes break down. This can happen especially if you overlook spark plugs and filters, which can age and prevent the mower from starting. Soft tires can cause the steering to be sluggish. Repairing these riding lawn mowers is easily done at home by using these steps. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

1. Check the spark plugs under the hood. If you have a V-twin motor, there will be two of them. If the plugs look dirty, replace them to avoid problems.

2. Locate the oil filter, which will be a large cylinder on the side of the motor. Use an oil filter wrench and unscrew the filter. Check for leaks or cracks. If find any, or if the filter has not been replaced in a year or longer, replace it with a new one. Be sure to tighten the new one with the wrench.

3. Locate the air filter, a rectangular piece, on the top of the mower. Check to see if it is dirty or clogged. If the filter is blue, it is washable. Otherwise, you will have to replace it.

4. Locate the fuel line by looking for a long, black rubber hose along the side of the motor. About halfway along the line, a plastic round piece protrudes from the hose. This is the filter. Pull the filter out for any irregularities. If you find any, replace it.

5. Check the tire pressure to see if they are at the common tire pressure size of 30 to 35 lbs. Check the owner's manual to make sure this is the correct tire pressure size.
