Repair A Stereo Tuner

Stereo tuners allow you to pick up AM and FM broadcast stations. However, like most electrical equipment, it is possible for you to run into performance issues with your tuner. The type of problem you encounter determines the available solutions. The type of tuner you are using can also impact what solutions are available.

1. Check the main power cord if the tuner does not turn on. If it is loose or unplugged, securely plug it in to an electric socket.


2. Adjust the antenna if stations are not coming in clearly. Continue to adjust until the station comes in clearly. Also, try moving the tuner away from other electrical equipment that may interfere with signals.


3. Remove the battery case lid from the back of the remote if you cannot turn the tuner on with it. Remove the current batteries and replace them with fresh batteries.

4. Check the main power cord if the tuner does not start. If it is loose or unplugged, securely plug it back in. Check the main power switch on the back of the tuner. If it set to "Off," switch it to "On."


5. Move the tuner away from other electrical equipment if there is interference with stations. Try adjusting the antenna until stations come in clearly.


6. Check the speaker connections if you have no sound. If the connections are loose or disconnected, securely connect them.


7. Remove the lid from the battery compartment on the remote if the tuner does not respond to remote commands. Remove the current batteries and replace them with fresh batteries.
