Replace A 1993 Ford Aerostar'S Driver Window

If your Ford Aerostar has a broken driver's side window, replace it as soon as you can.

A broken window on your 1993 Ford Aerostar can be a hassle. Not only does it hurt the overall look of the car, it also makes it hard to drive in rainy weather. Moreover, a broken window leaves the vehicle vulnerable to thieves. If your Aerostar has a broken driver's side window, you should replace it as soon as possible. If you have experience working on cars, you can do the job yourself in a few steps.

Instructions

1. Open up the hood. Use a wrench to remove the clamp bolt from the negative terminal. Lift the negative cable from the terminal.

2. Use a trim stick to pry open the electronic window controls inside the vehicle. Once you have removed the casing, carefully disconnect the electrical wiring.

3. Use a Phillips-head screwdriver to remove the mounting screws which fix the rubber trim around the edge of the wing mirror. Remove the trim from the edge of the window by prying it off with a trim stick.

4. Pull off the plastic water shield, which is attached to the door. Remove the screws which hold the black plate in place. Pull the plate away from the door. Use a hex wrench to remove the mounting bolts which fix the window glass to the window regulator. Carefully pull the glass from the window frame. If the glass it broken, take care when doing this to ensure you do not cut yourself.

5. Place the new glass into the space in the window frame, then lower the glass into the door. Fix the mounting bolts in place to connect the glass to the regulator. Reconnect the door assembly following the removal steps in reverse.
