Sell Ebooks Online Without Ebay

According to Forrester Research, a survey performed in the summer of 2010 revealed that 35 percent of ebooks were read on laptop computers, followed by 32 percent on Amazon Kindles, a dedicated electronic reader. A large electronic readership exists online and reaching these readers is not difficult. Ebooks are not expensive to produce and have an additional benefit of being able to be sold anywhere in the world without having to be physically shipped.

Instructions

1. Put the ebook into a PDF format or a DOC format. Most computers have the ability to read PDF files and DOC files. To put the ebook into a PDF format, there are a number of commercial and free PDF conversion tools available. Microsoft Word is a commercial product that is designed to create Word, or DOC, files and it also has the capability of saving Word files as PDFs.

2. Set up your own website. Hosting for a website is inexpensive and easy. By selling the ebook on your website, you will retain complete control over how the ebook is presented, marketed and advertised. One way to sell an ebook through your website is to accept payments through Paypal. When someone buys your book on the site, Paypal will send you an email notifying you that you have received payment. At that time, you can either transmit the file electronically or you can send a CD or DVD containing the contents of the book via the postal system.

3. Convert the ebook to the Kindle format. Keep in mind that Amazon will take a percentage of the book sale. In return, your book will be listed in the Kindle Store, where it has the potential to be seen by many more people than might be visiting your website. Also, be advised that Amazon reserves the right to reject your ebook.

4. Contact private ebook dealers and work out an affiliate deal with them. Advertise your ebook on their sites. The website owners take a commission from any sales their sites send you.
