If you are homebound, ask the customer service representative if someone can visit your home to discuss hiring a nurse or assistant.
5. Note the date of the appointment on the printout or piece of paper containing the health care provider's name.
6. Discuss with the representative, on the day of the appointment, the forms of payment accepted; if the home care is covered by Medicare or another insurance; and if a personalized assessment and/or medication profile must be completed.
7. Fill out any required documents and provide any paperwork to the representative to complete the hiring process.

8. Go online. Click the "Senior Living Source" link in the Resource section to access a free search engine of home care services in the Detroit,Michigan area.
9. Click the down arrow next to "Community Type" and select "Home Care." Enter your ZIP code in the box next to "Location" then click "Myself" or the person for which you are seeking a home care nurse or assistant.
10. Click the "Start Your Search" button. Enter your ZIP code in the "What is your ZIP code?" box. Enter your email address in the "Email Address:" box. Click the "Submit Search" button.
11. Click the check box next to "Personal Care." Click the down arrow next to "How many hours of care" and select the amount of hours you or the person you are requesting care for needs per week.
12. Enter your age or the person's age in the box next to "Age of care recipient." Click the down arrow next to "Gender of care recipient" and select your age or the age of the person you want care for. Click the "Submit Search" button.
13. Enter your first and last name, street address and phone number on the next screen then click the "View Your Results" button.
14. Click one of the "More Information" buttons next to one of the home health care providers to access additional information about that specific health care provider.
15. Complete steps 3 through 7 in the "US Home Care Finder" section to complete the hiring process.
