The rear windshield wiper blade on a Ford Aerostar affords the driver heightened visibility through the back glass during inclement weather. As the rubber in the wiper blade ages, however, it can end up as a detriment to visibility by smearing things across the glass instead of wiping them away. Once this happens, you'll need to replace the wiper blade as soon as possible to reestablish rear visibility. If you have a small amount of mechanical aptitude, you can replace a Ford Aerostar rear wiper blade in under 10 minutes.
Instructions
1. Lift the wiper arm away from the back glass until it juts out perpendicular to the glass.
2. Turn the wiper blade so that it's parallel to the glass while the wiper arm remains perpendicular.
3. Depress the retaining tab on the wiper blade where the wiper arm hook loops around the blade's hub. While holding the tab down, push the wiper blade toward the back glass, using equal pressure on both sides of the blade, approximately 2 to 3 inches from the wiper arm.
4. Pull the wiper blade back up the arm and thread the hook on the wiper arm through the opening in the wiper blade. Discard the old blade.
5. Slide the replacement blade over the hook in the wiper arm by guiding the hook through the center opening in the blade, essentially reversing how you took the old blade off the arm. Slide the new blade's hub into the hook on the arm and pull the blade up, away from the windshield, until it clicks into place.
