Repair Dents In Drywall

Repairing dents in drywall from moving furniture, kids trying out new gymnastic moves in the living room or doorknob dings is an easy home repair job. Instructions


1. Buy one quart lightweight joint compound, a 3 inch putty knife, and a foam sanding block.


2. Use your sanding block and lightly sand the dent and the area around the dent to remove any loosely attached pieces of plaster or drywall.


3. Use the putty knife and dip out a small amount of the drywall compound.


4. Apply a thin coat of the drywall compound to the dent, feathering it out to the edges.


5. Let this coat dry about an hour and sand lightly until smooth and flat.


6. Apply the compound, dry and sand until smooth two more times for a total of three coats.


7. Apply a mixture of drywall compound mixed with a little water with a paint roller and let dry as a last step if you are trying to match a textured wall.


8. Paint over the repair with paint.
