Fix Dings in a Soft Laminate Hardwood Floor

Generally laminate flooring is harder and more durable than authentic wood but it can still get small dings or dents over time. When damage occurs to laminate that can not be easily repaired it would be a good idea to call in a professional. But when the damage is a small ding or dent in the floor it can easily be repaired using a wood colored putty. Wood repair putty comes in many different colors that you have to match to your floor. Repair putty can be found at your local home improvement store. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

1. Scuff the inside of all the dings in the floor to help the repair putty bond to the floor. Use 100 grit sandpaper and do not scuff outside of the dings and scratch the surface of the floor.

2. Clean the dings with a damp rag to eliminate any dust or other debris. Let the damaged areas completely dry.

3. Fill in the dings with the wood repair putty that matched your floor color. Smooth the putty out with a putty knife making it level with the surrounding floor. Using a rag feather the edges of the putty by lightly rubbing it. Let the putty harden.

4. Using a damp rag lightly buff out the putty further feathering the edges so they are no longer visible.
