Like traditional block homes, mobile home fixtures do become worn or damaged over time. A kitchen drawer that is routinely used may encounter certain hardware failures, such as the guides no longer aligning with the glide track or the knob or facade coming loose from the drawer itself. Because there are so few "moving parts" to a mobile home's kitchen drawers, fixing them is not complicated and can be done by any homeowner. Does this Spark an idea?
Instructions
1. Open the drawer to its fullest position and empty the contents. Leave nothing inside, as you will be dislodging the drawer from its cavity.
2. Grasp both sides of the mobile home's drawer, pulling slightly up and out to take the rollers out of the glide or guide track. This maneuver may require a little trial and error, but the drawer will eventually pop out.
3. Inspect the rollers for chips and looseness. Check the glide or guide tracks for kinks or obstructions. For instance, the retaining screws that hold the tracks in place might be loose, causing difficulty in opening and closing the drawer.
4. Remove the tracks in the drawer slot or cavity with a screwdriver. There will be at least two and as many as four to five screws embedded in the tracks on either side. Unfasten each screw and then use the screwdriver's tip to pry the tracks away if necessary. Take these parts to a home improvement or hardware store and purchase comparable parts.
5. Fasten the new tracks into place with screws using a screwdriver. You can use the holes left by the old tracks to secure each track to the drawer's cavity.
6. Align the drawer rollers with the tracks, holding the front of the drawer in an upward angle. Push the drawer back onto the tracks; the rollers should snap into place. Test by opening and closing the mobile home drawer.
