Train For A Career In Tv Repair

Train for a Career in TV Repair

Do you enjoy watching TV? Do you like fixing things and experimenting with gadgets? If you answered yes to both, then it's possible that a career in TV repair could be very rewarding for you. Here's research training programs for a career in TV repair.

Instructions

1. Locate a trade school or program near you. Local community colleges may have TV Repair certificate programs or coursework available. Get as much information as you can from these places, either by visiting them and speaking with a school counselor or checking online, as most accredited colleges have Web sites these days.

2. Search the Internet for online degree or certificate programs. Explore Internet colleges, such as Penn Foster Career School (see Resources below), and determine whether the program and costs fit you and your budget.

3. Determine whether or not the program you choose is eligible for financial aid. If so, be sure to apply early for financial aid through FAFSA (federal government student aid) and/or your state.

4. Familiarize yourself with TVs. Know what types of TVs and screens are available, such as LCD, plasma and projection. You may also want to research VCRs, as many TV repair programs also cover VCR repair.

5. Prepare for the topics you will be learning about. Commonly covered subjects are soldering, chroma and luminescence, TV monitor principles, deflection and power, TV RF and signal stages, amplifiers and transistor analysis, electric principles and circuit analysis.

6. Speak with some professionals who already have their certificates. They might be able to tell you where they got certified and how they got into the business, or at least point you in the right direction.
