Stop Mobile Home Floors From Creaking

Stop Mobile Home Floors From Creaking

The organizational efficiency are marvels of the modern mobile home manufacturing plants. The routine of the workers' physically demanding and fast-paced job involves production of ten to twelve floors average per day. During transport of the mobile homes, interesting things do happen. Panels get frequently cracked. Connections loosen. The frame hits the ground during a tire blowout, causing leveling problems. Other forces twist and torque the homes. Floor stud creaking is common for mobile homes. Movement of the floor section is the result of the backing out and loosening of the bolt attaching the floor joist to the steel frame. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

1. Going underneath the house and have someone on the topside walk on the floor to locate creak.

2. Reseal the underbelly or the black plastic and insulation underneath the floor joists (the horizontal floor support that runs from wall to wall) using duct tape. Mobile home supply stores carry underbelly pre-glued strips.

3. Use a good quality spray glue on black plastic and underbelly, after resealing seams together with duct tape.

4. Apply black plastic over seam when glue gets "tacky", but not sticking to your fingers.
