Troubleshoot A Craftsman Garage Door Opener Code

Craftsman garage door openers have three different methods of operation: a control panel, a remote control and a keyless entry pad that is operated by a password. Several factors may keep the keyless entry from operating correctly. Fortunately, most problems with the keyless entry pad are minor and can be fixed by troubleshooting the device. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

1. Try operating the garage door opener with the remote control or the control panel on the inside of the garage. If those methods do not work, there is likely a power problem. Check your fuse box and replace any blown fuses or reset any circuit breakers.

2. If snow or ice is present, clear any ice or snow that may have frozen the door shut.

3. Check the door spring to see if it is broken. A broken spring will keep the garage door opener from operating. Have it repaired by a qualified technician.

4. Erase the power unit's memory by pressing and holding the "Learn" button on the power unit attached to the ceiling until the indicator light shuts off. The remote controls connected to the garage door opener will be erased as well.

5. Press and release the "Learn" button again. The indicator light on the power unit will turn on.

6. Enter a new four-digit password by pressing the corresponding buttons on the keypad.

7. Press and hold the "Enter" button on the keypad until the safety lights on the power unit blink. Your code is now saved.
