Does this Spark an idea?
Instructions
1. Run your hand over the entire area that you repaired. Check for any surface irregularities and bumps. These blemishes become more obvious when you paint over them, so its best to deal with them now. Sand the uneven areas with 220 grit sandpaper until they are smooth to the touch and even with the wall.
2. Apply one coat of high quality primer to the wall with a paintbrush. Extend the primer about 5 to 10 inches away from the repaired area so it blends with the rest of the wall. Use a long, even brush stroke going up and down to apply primer to the area. If the wall is painted a dark color, ask the staff at the paint store to tint an interior latex primer. Using a tinted primer cuts down on the number of coats of paint you have to apply.
3. Allow the primer to dry. Apply another coat of primer using the same technique as Step 2. Allow the primer to dry completely.
4. To the primed area, apply one coat of high quality interior latex paint with a paint roller that has a medium nap. Try to use paint that matches the wall color as close as possible. Many home improvement stores are able to match the color of paint if you take them a small paint chip. Or better yet, if you have the old can of paint you used for the wall, take that to the store and have the clerk run a computer match to find the same color. Use the same paint sheen as the old paint on the repaired area. Allow the paint to dry.
5. Apply another coat of paint to the repaired area using the same technique as Step 4.
