Adjust A Craftsman Belt Drive Garage Door Opener

Utilizing the Craftsman door's emergency rope may be necessary for adjustments.

The Craftsman Belt Drive garage door opener allows for remote access to the garage door. The opener sends an electronic signal to the garage door to engage its motor to either shut or open the door. Unfortunately, adjustments to the garage door's opening mechanism may be required when the door opener fails to respond and the garage door becomes stuck. You can adjust your Craftsman garage door opener manually irrespective of your familiarity with troubleshooting garage doors. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

1. Find the Craftsman Belt Drive garage door's release rope. This red rope dangles from the garage door assembly above you. Pull the rope down to disengage the Craftsman Belt Drive garage door's motor control to allow for manual corrections to the garage door. This will also place the release arm in a vertical orientation.

2. Find the garage door handle. This will be near the bottom of the inside of the garage door. Hold on to this handle and slowly "walk" the door down manually now that the door has been de-motorized via the emergency release rope.

3. Grasp the Craftsman Belt Drive garage door's emergency release rope and pull it at a roughly 45 degree angle. This will re-enable the motor on the garage door and set the release arm back into place.

4. Attempt to use the door opener. It should now function appropriately.
