Old cars may have dents that can be removed.
Dents in a car are unappealing and lower the vehicle's resale value. The good news is that dents are easy to remove with just a few tools. You will not need an auto body technician to take out small dents or dings in your car. If you use some professional dent removal techniques, the car will end up looking like new, and there is no need to repaint the area either.
Instructions
1. Inspect the dented area and determine the width and length of the damage. Locate the ends of the dent and take careful note of them.
2. Use a hairdryer to heat the entire area of the dent. Hold the hairdryer just a few inches from the metal and move it across the entire surface area of the damage. Do this for 30 seconds or more to heat the dented metal.
3. Turn a spray can of liquid carbon dioxide (available at any auto parts or hardware store) upside down and spray it on the dented surface immediately after applying heat from the hairdryer. Cover the entire dented area, focusing on the deepest parts of the dent first.
4. Wait several seconds after applying the liquid carbon dioxide and listen for the dent to pop out on its own. If this does not occur, wipe off the liquid CO2 with a clean rag, and repeat Steps 2 and 3.
