The diaphragm clutch spring compression tool can be a useful tool when it comes to replacing or maintaining your Harley's clutch. This tool is used to make removing the retainer ring for your clutch much simpler. The tool is also useful for reinstalling the retainer rings for the clutch. Make sure when shopping for this tool that you purchase the correct one in order for it to work properly. The newer version of the diaphragm clutch spring compression tool is useful for replacing or maintaining the clutch on 1990 or later big twin bikes and 1991 or later sport bikes. The older version of the diaphragm clutch spring compression tool is useful on 1984 to 1990 sport bikes only. You will be able to tell the difference between these two similar tools based on appearance in order to ensure that you purchase the right one for the year and model of your bike.
Clutch Lock Plate
A useful tool to have when replacing or maintaining the clutch on your Harley-Davidson is the clutch lock plate. This tool is used to hold the clutch shell in place and keep it from turning when other parts of the clutch such as the engine sprocket are removed. There are two types of clutch lock plates available for use. The first is a clutch lock plate that will only work correctly on Harley-Davidson sport bikes that were manufactured in the 1970s or earlier. The second type of clutch lock plate can be used for the same purpose on Harley big twins that were manufactured between 1941 through early 1984.
Scorpion Hub Puller
The scorpion hub puller is the tool necessary to pull the hub. It is made of billet aluminum and is designed to be used so that it will not ruin or interfere with the main shaft of the clutch. The hub puller comes with a 7/16 inch bolt, six SHCS and a protection cap. This tool can be used on all scorpion hubs except for the Harley-Davidson Ironhead Sportsters that were made from 1971 through 1983.
