Fix A Virus On A Laptop

Viruses can damage your laptop computer.

A virus in your laptop can slow your computer's performance and cause major problems to its operating system, often opening doors within the system that allow other viruses to infect it. There are several ways to get rid of a virus, but the easiest and least expensive is to try to restore your computer to its operating mode from an earlier time, before the virus was contracted.

Instructions

Removing Viruses

1. Restart your computer in Safe Mode by pressing the F8 key when it begins to reboot. Once it has booted, click on the Start button in the lower left-hand corner of the computer screen.

2. Click on All Programs, then Accessories and System Tools.

3. Click on System Restore and check the box in front of Restore my Computer to Previous Date, then press Next.

4. Select a date prior to the day the virus was contracted. Click next.

5. Restart your computer when you receive a message that prompts you to do so.

6. Install an antivirus software and run a scan to make sure that the virus is no longer on your computer. If it is, or any other problems are detected, follow the software instructions for removal.
