Apply Henry Roof Repair Paint

Asphalt roofs help seal out moisture.

Maintain the integrity of your roof with Henry roof repair paint. Double the life of your roof and prevent roof leaks. Henry roof repair paint comes as an asphalt sealant coating and an aluminum or white roof reflective coating. The asphalt seals the roof and the reflective coating helps keep the rooftop cool. All leaks must be repaired before the paint is applied for a sound sealing surface. The roof must also be clean of all loose debris that could inhibit the paint's adhesive properties.

Instructions

Prepping the Roof

1. Sweep away all dirt, dust and loose debris with a dust brush. Use a wire brush on rusty and corroded metal roofs to get rid of loose materials.

2. Fix all existing leaks by applying a 1/4-inch layer of roof cement into the leaky area with a trowel.

3. Lay a piece of one-ply patching fabric over the layer of roof cement and then apply another 1/4-inch layer of roof cement. Allow the patched and repaired areas to dry before painting.

Applying Asphalt Paint Coatings

4. Measure a 10-by-10-foot section of the roof with a tape measure. This is 100 square feet.

5. Pour 3 gallons of Henry 107 asphalt emulsion into a 5-gallon bucket. Hang a metal paint roller screen inside the bucket. Equip the spindle of a 9-inch roller frame with a 1-inch nap roller cover. Screw an extension pole into the handle of the roller frame.

6. Dip the roller into the asphalt paint and apply 3 to 4 gallons to every 100 square foot sections of the roof. Roll back and forth across the area to spread the paint out evenly. Allow the asphalt to dry completely. Follow drying instructions on the product's label.

Applying Reflective Paint Coatings

7. Measure out a 100-square-foot area of the roof.

8. Fill a 5-gallon bucket with 1 gallon of white elastomeric coating or 2 gallons of aluminum coating. These amounts will cover 100 square feet. Hang a metal paint roller screen inside the bucket. Set up a paint roller frame, nap and extension pole as you did for the asphalt application.

9. Apply the coating with the roller in back and forth patterns. Allow the first coating to dry completely before applying the second coat.
