Dryer Vent Question
Had a washer and dryer delivered and installed by Bestbuy. Slight problem in that I was told the dryer vent connector was oval and the hose was round. The Bestbuy guy mentioned that many builders were doing this and that I would need to get the vent in the wall swapped out. I took a look at it and I dont think a round one would fit as it is actually set back in the wall and set horizontally, so basically the hole can only be the width of the wall. Question is can I get a section of ducting that will convert to an oval fixing? Thanks Thread has been moved to here. I think these guys can help you out Can you take round pipe and oval it? I dont have any in any of my Cats here. Like said a sheet metal shop can make you one that will fit. I cant see why you cant get a 4 round in the wall to the outside. My parents has it in thier home, so what I did is take a short section of foil duct and it can fit onto the oval stack in the wall with no problem.. Also the flex works out well since it's an undercounter washer/dryer set up, so I had no space to use metal. My dryer vents into the garage so we have to open it when we run the dryer. I haven't been able to map a straightforward way to vent it. Is there a maximum distance I can run a pipe? What is the impact of 90 degree elbows getting it to the best location. Corrugated flexible pipe OK or should I use PVC or something like that? I'm a green newbie to DIY. Someone once told me not to vent it out the front of the house. What do you think? Thanks! It depends on how many elbow you are using, May want to check the manual on the dryer itself. Here is a basic venting table. that are used for most basic dryer.
