Disable A Delta Antiscald Tub Faucet

Delta makes anti-scald faucets, often referred to as scald-guard faucets. They feature a scald guard feature that limits the rotation of the handle, preventing too much hot water from entering the tub. If the handle can only be turned so far, the water can only get so hot. In some cases, like when your home hot water heater does not produce extremely hot water, you may choose to disable the feature to allow your shower's water to become hot enough.

Instructions

1. Pull the cap cover on the front end of the Delta faucet off. This is a baseball hat-shaped piece that sits directly on the front of the faucet's handle. Use the edge of a screwdriver to gently pry it off, or pop it off with your fingers.

2. Unscrew the small screw at the bottom edge of the cap retainer bracket, which is underneath the cap. This is just a mounting bracket for the handle cap. Use a flat edge screwdriver to take this part off, or use an Allen wrench if the screw has an Allen head slot.

3. Pull the round limit stop knob off the top of the handle. This part sits inside the handle base and has a notch that catches and prevents the handle from turning all the way. Pry it out with the screwdriver and be careful not to scratch the surface of the handle. If you simply need more hot water, try turning the rotational limit stop knob to the left, or counter-clockwise.
