Repair An Automobile Dent

Repair automobile dents using a can of air duster and a hair dryer.

Automobile dents happen in an instant, but repairing them can take a great deal of time and money. Before you make an expensive and time-consuming appointment at an auto body shop, try this do-it-yourself dent removal trick. It works on everything from side panels to bumpers, and will not damage your automobile's paint job. Best of all, it's fast, anyone can do it and it does not require expensive tools or a dent removal kit.

Instructions

1. Plug your hair dryer into an outlet so that it reaches the dent on your automobile, using an extension cord if necessary. Place the air duster can within easy reach, and put on your rubber gloves and protective eyeglasses or goggles.

2. Turn the hair dryer on the highest heat setting available, and move the hair dryer back and forth over the entire surface area of the dent with the nozzle of the hair dryer almost touching the dent for one minute. Turn off the hair dryer and set it aside.

3. Immediately pick up the air duster can and hold it so that the nozzle is pointing directly at the ground. With the air duster upside down, spray the entire dent with liquid carbon dioxide for 10 seconds.

4. Wait for the temperature difference in the heated dent and the liquid carbon dioxide to force the dent to pop back into its original shape.

5. Wipe off any remaining liquid carbon dioxide with a damp rag.

Tips Warnings

Depending on the severity of the dent, you may need to repeat the process several times to remove the dent from your automobile.

Be careful not to inadvertently spray liquid carbon dioxide in your eyes when repairing the dent.
