Protect Patio Furniture

Patio furniture can come up missing if you don't look after it.

Patio furniture is regularly exposed to harsh weather elements such as wind, rain and possibly snow. In addition, it gets coated with dirt and debris that blows through the air. As a result, patio furniture can get very dirty or even damaged quickly if it is not properly taken care of. Patio furniture is also easily stolen if care is not taken to protect it against thieves or vandals. Protecting patio furniture requires some preparation.

Instructions

1. Move the furniture indoors to a garage or basement in the event of severe weather such as rain or snow. This prevents weather damage and helps keep any metal furniture from rusting. If you don't have an indoor storage space, cover the furniture with a tarp or furniture cover.

2. Wipe the furniture down every few days with a damp cloth to remove dust, dirt and any other buildup. If the furniture has cushions, shake them out and vacuum them to help remove dust buildup.

3. Keep the furniture well-lit at night if you leave it outside. Security lighting helps prevent theft and vandalism.

4. Loop a cable through the arms and legs of the patio furniture at night and then lock the cable together into a loop to make the furniture more difficult to steal.
